ACTION ALERT: Sign the CETA petition - Stop the Canada-EU trade negotiations
Canada and the European Union are now halfway through negotiations on a sweeping trade deal that has little to do with what most of us understand as trade. A sixth round of Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA) talks took place in Brussels, Belgium and Strasbourg, France from January 17 - 21, but still Canadians and their elected representatives have had no say on what the proposed deal should look like -- or whether we should be negotiating at all. Leaked copies of the negotiating text and public statements about the deal make it clear that CETA offers little to Canadians while posing far too many unnecessary risks to our social services, environment, public water and democracy. It's time to put a stop to the CETA negotiations until public consultations can take place.

Download and print off the petition so you can collect signatures in your community. When you have enough names, take the petition to your federal, provincial or territorial government representative and ask them to read the petition in the legislature. You can do this over and over again with the same elected representatives, as you collect new signatures each time. By going out into communities we will raise crucial awareness of the implications of CETA while encouraging our politicians to get more involved. (Disponibles en français)
