10-year-old ‘environment minister’ opposes Site 41

The Barrie Examiner reported this weekend that, “Meaghan Evon recently became Ontario’s Minister of the Environment for a day, and she said it was ‘pretty cool.’ The 10-year-old Barrie girl was among hundreds of children in grades 5 through 8 entered a contest to ‘replace’ Ontario Environment Minister John Gerresten for a day and, recently, Evon got her chance. …Evon said a career in politics would be cool, but prime minister is the job she is looking for.”

The article notes, “When asked about important issues surrounding the environment, she spoke about Site 41 and said she didn’t approve of the landfill. ‘I think the Site 41 landfill will probably pollute the water’, Evon said.”
