Gus Van Harten, the Osgoode Hall law professor, who raised a red flag over the Canada-China Foreign Investment Protection Agreement (which still isn’t ratified), suggests “five reasons against celebrating our (still virtually secret) trade deal with the EU” in an article in The Tyee this week. The first four have to do with Harper’s poor negotiating position. The final reason questions the substance of the Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement (CETA), in particular its investment rules.
