The Council of Canadians endorses this statement by the American Friends Service Committee, the Columban Center for Advocacy and Outreach, the Franciscan Action Network, the Maryknoll Office for Global Concerns, People of Faith for Access to Medicines, the Sisters of Mercy’s Institute Justice Team, and other allies.
The statement calls on leaders to:
1- Eliminate Investor-State Dispute Settlement (ISDS)
2- Ensure just labor practices
3- Be faithful stewards of God’s earth & uphold environmental protections
4- Ensure access to affordable medicines
5- Promote fair and sustainable agricultural systems
