Kelowna chapter tables at World Community Film Festival

The Council of Canadians Kelowna chapter had a table at the World Community Film Festival this past weekend.

Chapter activist Wes Kmet tells us, “The festival went very well – with lots of people at our information table. About 500 people attend the film festival. Our chapter president Karen Abramsen also introduced two great social documentaries this weekend.”

As noted in the promotion for the festival, “The festival selection this year includes over 25 documentaries from around the world, with a focus on environmental, social justice, and human rights issues. These are films that are sure to entertain, educate, and inspire! The festival begins Thursday evening at the Ki-low-Na Friendship Centre, followed by an evening grand opening on Friday at Okanagan College, and films all day Saturday and Sunday, again at Okanagan College.”

The Kelowna chapter also recently screened the Avi Lewis documentary ‘This Changes Everything’ at their annual general meeting.
