Bill C-398 – legislation that would make it easier for Canada to export cheap life-saving medication to countries that need it most – is scheduled to be voted on in the House of Commons on November 28. If it passes, it goes to committee for further study. If not, the bill dies.
The legislation, introduced by New Democrat MP Hélène Laverdière, is supported by the Council of Canadians. To read trade campaigner Stuart Trew’s blog – Support Bill C-398: Sign the petition(s) to improve access to medicine and save lives – go to http://canadians.org/blog/?p=17646.
The Council of Canadians also supported this bill’s duplicate predecessor C-393, http://canadians.org/blog/?p=6025. That bill passed the House of Commons (when the Conservatives had a minority government), but died in the Senate when the May 2011 election was called.
