The Ottawa Citizen reports this hour, “The MRC des Collines has cancelled its three-year-old plan to build a treatment plant for septic waste beside the Gatineau River. The plan angered many residents. Mayors of municipalities in the MRC des Collines met Thursday evening, officially taking the plan off the table.” On April 21, 2011, I joined with about 600 people in Chelsea, Quebec to march to the MRC (municipalites rurales qui la composent) des Collines de l’Outaouais office to express opposition to the proposed treatment plant and the harm it could do to the Gatineau River, http://canadians.org/blog/?p=6586, http://canadians.org/blog/?p=5895, and http://canadians.org/blog/?p=11613. Congratulations to the community that has continued to work so hard on this issue!
