NEWS: Nelson chapter rallies with CUPW against loss of full-time shift

The Nelson Star reports, “Nelson residents could be facing longer line-ups at the post office this holiday season.”

“Postal workers and concerned members of the public rallied at the Vernon Street location on Tuesday in hopes of preventing the elimination of a full-time shift. …The Council of Canadians joined the fray in front of the post office on Tuesday.”

“The reason for the cut is unclear as even Canada Post admitted in Tuesday’s meeting (with Canadian Union of Postal Workers Local 790 president Bruce Northcott) that the Vernon Street post office is the busiest in the Kootenays.”
