The Globe and Mail reports this morning that British Columbia Premier Gordon Campbell will be “at the United Nations (later today) to hear the address of VANOC CEO John Furlomg as he presents the Olympic truce resolution for the 2010 Games.”
CTVOlympics.ca adds that, “Furlong will introduce a resolution… calling on the world to celebrate the principle that sport can inspire peace during the Olympic Games.”
Media had earlier been reporting the resolution would be presented on October 20.
Today’s Globe and Mail report says, “As a member country of the UN, the Government of Canada is facilitating the presentation of the resolution…”
The resolution itself was developed with various federal government ministries and offiicials.
Please keep sending your e-mails to the prime minister calling for a meaningful Olympic Truce. Our action alert on this can be read at http://canadians.org/campaignblog/?p=2002.
