Maude Barlow and Paul Moist speak at the Blue Summit in November 2009
The Council of Canadians is ramping up our campaign to defeat the Canada-European Union Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement. While the Harper government is seeking to complete the deal by the end of 2011, we will deliver the message in Canada with a speaking tour that CETA equals water privatization, unfettered tar sands expansion, more investor-state claims, and that this agreement is not in the public interest.
Plans are now emerging for a cross-country speaking tour – jointly organized with the Canadian Union of Public Employees – that will feature Council of Canadians chairperson Maude Barlow and CUPE president Paul Moist speaking at many of the public forums.
Time is getting short – with a possible first date just six weeks from now on April 18, and with other dates in May and June – but we are working hard to pull this together and share more information as plans are confirmed. Stay tuned for more soon!
