Council of Canadians chairperson Maude Barlow will be the keynote speaker at the Idle No More Youth Forum in Ottawa this coming Friday at 10:30 am.
As noted on the Facebook event page, “You are cordially invited to attend the Idle No More Youth Forum on January 25, 2013 starting at 9am at the Ottawa Convention Centre (55 Colonel By Drive), Room 205. As Idle No More continues to grow across Canada and the world, the Indigenous (First Nations, Métis & Inuit) youth voice needs to be louder and stronger than ever before. …All nations, creeds and genders will be invited to this important forum to engage in the immediate need to educate the youth on the recent Bills being passed through legislation, the creation and goals of Idle No More, Chief Theresa Spence’s Hunger Strike and spiritual awakening, a history of colonization and most importantly youth to youth empowerment and growth. Collaborating with all youth, non-Indigenous and Indigenous, is a key goal for this Forum as well as in future relationship building.”
