MetroNews reports, “David Suzuki is coming to Windsor to teach tomorrow’s leaders about the importance of protecting the environment today. Suzuki, host of CBC’s The Nature of Things and one of Canada’s most well-known environmentalists, will be lecturing at the WFCU Centre on April 25. The event is reserved for high school students, who will be admitted free of charge. Thousands of students are expected to attend.”
As noted on the WFCU website, “The event will bring thousands of students together from school boards across Windsor/Essex County to discuss and learn about the importance of protecting our environment, climate change, and the policies around these issues and how it is affecting the water, air and food in our area. …The presentation is a school sanctioned field trip that is reserved for local high-school students who will be admitted free of charge. The event is dedicated to educating students and raising awareness of Earth week among students.”
In addition to Suzuki, speakers will include Sam Harrison, a teenager from British Columbia who is fighting against the Enbridge Northern Gateway pipeline, and Melina Laboucan Massimo, the climate and energy campaigner for Greenpeace Canada.
Doors open at 9 am for this 10 am event.
The Council of Canadians and Common Causes supports this important gathering for youth in the Windsor area.
