The Vancouver Sun has reported that, “The Vancouver board of education is considering a ban on bottled water sales in schools but wants more information before making a decision.”
“An agenda item for Monday’s meeting says trustees have asked for a report on the implications of such a ban and the availability of safe drinking water at all worksites.”
“A board committee suggests it might be better to aim for a reduction in sales before implementing a ban.”
“Trustee Mike Lombardi noted that the Vancouver Elementary School Teachers’ Association (VESTA) has written to the board requesting the ban and assurances of free, safe drinking water at all sites.”
“The district will also seek input from students and national organizations that have already banned bottled water sales.”
