To see a 1-minute video-clip of Brockville, Ontario chapter president Jim Riesberry speaking about the importance of writing letters to the editor on the local cable program ‘Critical Thinking’, please go to http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TBLY2OdzbPI.
Jim was also recently in the Brockville Recorder & Times newspaper speaking in favour of proportional representation, http://canadians.org/campaignblog/?p=6135. We also have one of Jim’s letters to the editor – on bottled water – noted on our website at http://canadians.org/media/council/2009/06-Mar-09.html. And a letter to the editor he wrote in December states, “CETA could radically limit the sovereignty of our local city councils regarding procurement, and it could result in city water distribution in Brockville and across Canada being privatized, and our water being sold to us for a profit, as if it weren’t our water. Obviously, the large water-corporations will profit if CETA is passed as presently written.”
Jim’s most recent letter to the editor on Egypt – posted just seven hours ago – can be read at http://www.recorder.ca/ArticleDisplay.aspx?e=2959983.
Jim has said, “Being part of a chapter is important to me because it gives me resources from the national and regional offices which informs me on various important social justice issues. It brings information and impact to the local community which it would not receive otherwise.”
Thank you Jim for all of your terrific work.
