Yesterday evening on CBC-TV’s ‘The Nature of Things’, a documentary titled ‘Tipping Point: The Age of the Oil Sands’ was broadcast. The 2-hour documentary is very informative and well-worth watching.
At the 40-minute mark, there is a clip of a tar sands protest that the Council of Canadians was involved in across the street from the Canadian embassy in Copenhagen during the 2009 climate conference. In the clip, you’ll hear Tom Goldtooth of the Indigenous Environmental Network saying, “Oil is money. Water is life. And water is being destroyed right before our eyes. Address your parliaments. Talk to the industries in this part of the world that are investing in that dirty oil.”
