Leading up to the Sinking the Harper Agenda conference and our Annual General Meeting in Nanaimo, I’[[{"type":"media","view_mode":"media_large","fid":"1456","attributes":{"class":"media-image alignright size-medium wp-image-17526","typeof":"foaf:Image","style":"","width":"240","height":"180","alt":""}}]]m currently in Vancouver meeting with local officials and allies.

Yesterday Trade Campaigner Stuart Trew and I met with Burnaby Mayor Derek Corrigan. Burnaby was Canada’s first Blue Community. We discussed the importance of community/local control of water services and keeping water services in public hands. He stressed concerns about the proposed Public-Private Partnership (P3) for a biofuel facility

We discussed the potential for water privatization under the Canada-Europe Comprehensive Free Trade Agreement, the Canada-China Foreign Investment Protection and Promotion Agreement and other trade issues.

I also met with Burnaby Councillor Sav Dhaliwal about water issues.

More to come.
