The Barrie Advance reports today that, “Organizations like the Council of Canadians, the Green Party and the David Suzuki Foundation should keep their noses out of Site 41, said Simcoe County Warden Tony Guergis.”
“In an interview, Guergis criticized Council of Canadians chairperson Maude Barlow for calling for a one-year moratorium on the landfill’s construction. ‘Why would the County of Simcoe listen to someone who has yet to convince us there’s a credibility they have that should be listened to?’ said Guergis.”
In a July 3 e-mail, Guergis told county councillors that, “Opponents are bringing more twists and rhetoric on all the same issues…”
The article notes that in the e-mail, “He informs them the county is updating its communications strategy for the site and offers copies of a newly completed information kit.”
