The Council believes political literacy is crucial to regaining control of our communities and our country. We encourage you to copy and share these resources with others.
We get results
For more than 35 years, the Council has fought for progressive change based on fair and sustainable trade, clean water, climate justice, democracy and stronger public health care. We connect more than 150,000 Members and supporters together from coast-to-coast-to-coast with a powerful collective voice with which we hold governments accountable and drive transformative change.
We work in solidarity and partnership
We work in solidarity with Indigenous Peoples, racialized and non-status people and those who face social, economic and environmental injustices. We also partner with and support local and national sister organizations doing vital work on shared issues of concern.
We work for justice and democracy
Most governments support an economic system that puts unlimited growth above the vital needs of people and the planet. We believe in the need for transformative change based on the principles of justice and democracy in the absence of true leadership by governments.
We are independent, non-partisan and people-powered
Our work is sustained by individual contributions from our Members and donors. We do not accept donations from corporations, governments or political parties. This financial independence allows our advocacy work to be 100% independent, direct and uncompromising.
We are democratic
We are a grassroots organization built on democratic principles. These principles provide an open membership and give all Members a voice and vote in our organization. We are accountable to the groups we work with and to the frontline activists and communities we support.
As a Member, you will continue to drive the transformative change we need in Canada and beyond – but you are also granted benefits, including:
