The Council of Canadians has been working alongside Indigenous communities, concerned residents, our chapters and groups to oppose the proposed Kinder Morgan pipeline since 2008.
As you know, the situation is becoming increasingly serious. The Texas oil giant is poised to start cutting down trees on Burnaby Mountain in order to bore a hole through it for the tar sands pipeline.
It is in this critical moment that Coast Salish members and spiritual leaders have issued a call to action to protect the Inlet on March 10:
“ ...we are asking you to stand with us in our defence of the lands and waters. Our members, spiritual leaders, and youth will be on the land practicing our culture and spirit as we have for time immemorial. We will use our presence to stop Kinder Morgan. It is time for you to join us and do whatever it takes to stop Kinder Morgan. Join Kwekwecnewtxw and stand with us to Protect the Inlet.”
Indigenous communities have been at the forefront of challenging the Kinder Morgan pipeline which threatens their lands, waters, culture and our climate.
Please consider joining Council of Canadian staff and chapters in this important moment standing up against Kinder Morgan.
