Powell River: Yves Engler on Trudeau’s foreign policy

The Powell River chapter of the Council of Canadians invites you to attend a presentation on Justin Trudeau’s foreign policy by Yves Engler on November 30th, 2022. There are two versions of the event to choose from, as Engler will be speaking from 2-4 p.m. at Powell River Library and 6:30-8:30 p.m. at Brooks School Library

Yves Engler is a Montréal-based activist and author who has published 12 books, including his latest Stand on Guard for Whom? A People’s History of the Canadian Military. He is a leading critic of Canadian foreign policy and has been called Canada’s version of Noam Chomsky. According to Engler, the Trudeau government has expanded the Canadian military while ignoring international efforts to restrict nuclear weapons proliferation.

Engler believes the Trudeau government is deeply involved in a proxy war with Russia, has ratcheted up tensions with China, and continues to enable Israeli violence. Flouting their climate commitments, the Trudeau government also failed to follow through on its promise to rein in Canada’s controversial international mining sector.

Engler will discuss past and present U.S./Canadian involvement in Haiti, Canada’s role in NATO, and the Liberals’ pro-corporate/pro-empire policies that have violated international law.

Attendance is free but donations are appreciated. While the event will not be livestreamed, it will be recorded and made available for later viewing.
