From the Belly of the Boom: Understanding and resisting Saskatchewan's oil boom

with Dr. Emily Eaton, PhD and Valerie Zink

Reading Room, Third Floor - St. Peter's College, MUENSTER, SK

1:30 – 4:00 p.m. - October 18, 2014

Hello fellow Council supporters!

I’m writing to invite you to come out and join us for a lively look at how Saskatchewan's oil boom is reshaping rural life and exacerbating environmental degradation.  Together we will share stories and experiences as we explore opportunities for building relevant movements across rural and urban communities.

Emily Eaton is an Associate Professor in the Department of Geography and Environmental Studies at the University of Regina.  Her current research examines the social, environmental and political impacts of Saskatchewan's booming oil economy.

Valerie Zink, past Editor/Publisher of Briarpatch Magazine, is a community organizer active in campaigns around resource extraction, Indigenous sovereignty, and Palestine solidarity. She currently works as a photographer, filmmaker, and researcher based in Regina.

I hope you can join us!
