Join us for this webinar on Wednesday, Feburary 19 at 17:30-18:30 PST
Scientists have given us just 10 years to cut our emissions in half in order to avoid catastrophic impacts and the crisis moving beyond our control. To do that, experts say we must see “rapid, far-reaching and unprecedented changes in all aspects of society.”
Transportation is the second largest source of greenhouse gas pollution in Canada, and GHG pollution from transportation increased 43% between 1990 and 2017. So our Green New Deal must succeed in getting a broad cross section of people on board for some major changes.
In this webinar, transportation planner and long-time Council of Canadians activist Eric Doherty will explain why our Green New Deal needs to include good quality highway bus service interconnecting the whole country, especially small towns and First Nations communities in Western Canada that recently lost Greyhound or STC service. Eric will be joined by Council Climate Campaigner, Dylan Penner, Prairies Regional Organizer, Chris Kruszewski, and Pacific Regional Organizer, AJ Klein.
