José Bové allowed to stay in Canada

José BovéFollowing intense public pressure, the decision to expel José Bové from Canada has been reversed. Many questions remain about why Bové was to be expelled in the first place and how that decision was reached.

Unfortunately, as a result of being held for several hours by customs officials yesterday, Bové was unable to speak at a planned event in Montreal challenging CETA (the Canada-EU Comprehensive Economic and Trade Agreement).

Bové – a farmer, anti-globalization activist, and Member of European Parliament – is a keynote speaker at the upcoming Groundswell 2016 in St. John’s on Friday and will now speak at the conference as originally planned.
