OTTAWA – While the nine premiers meet in Ottawa Friday, local Ottawa groups will challenge them on their failure to address TransCanada’s Energy East pipeline effects on climate change: what they are calling, the ‘elephant in the room.’ The controversial export pipeline would be the largest oil pipeline project in North America unleashing pollution equivalent to adding 7 million cars on the roads. Ontario and Quebec Premiers recently backtracked on commitments to evaluate these impacts following heavy lobbying, including from Albertan and New Brunswick Premiers.
