OTTAWA – Young activists including rogue page Brigette DePape will Storm the Dorm this Wednesday at Simon Fraser University Woodwards in the first of a series of cross-country events to boost youth voter turnout. DePape will meet students, ask them to commit to voting, and make sure they have the information they need to cast their ballots on October 19. There will also be events at Simon Fraser University Burnaby, the University of Toronto, Concordia University and Dalhousie University.
“The only way to make real change is if you actually do something about it,” says Brigette DePape, Youth Vote Campaigner with the Council of Canadians. “Voting is an essential step to get the government you want. Despite the Harper government making it harder for us to vote, young people are going to be the game-changers nobody saw coming.”
