Solidarity with the Aamjiwnaang First Nation! Today is the third day of their blockade of the CN rail line near Sarnia, Ontario. They say they will continue it until Prime Minister Stephen Harper meets with Chief Theresa Spence, now on the thirteenth day of her hunger strike. Ron Plain notes this morning that the blockade is reportedly costing companies $5 million a day. According to the Sarnia Observer, “The line, known as the St. Clair spur, carries CN and CSX trains to several large industries in Sarnia’s Chemical Valley and St. Clair Township. The line generally accommodates four or five trains a day.”

This past May, the Council of Canadians visited the Aamjiwnaang First Nation, more on that at http://canadians.org/blog/?p=15423.
