Premiers in St John’s: Absence of a national health accord is the elephant in the room

ElephantThe Council of Canadians and allies will be holding a demonstration in St John’s to remind our premiers and territorial leaders of their responsibility to protect, strengthen and expand our national public health care.

“There’s an elephant in the room at the premiers’ meeting,” says Michael Butler, Health Care Campaigner with the Council of Canadians. “The absence of a national health accord has a negative impact on all Canadians from coast to coast to coast. Newfoundland and Labrador alone stand to lose $491 million in funding, a cut of $932 per resident.”
