Halifax: The Many Vs the Money – My elbows are up… now what!?

On June 18, 2025, dozens gathered in Halifax to build on the momentum from the first Many Vs The Money town hall earlier this year.

Participants explored the growing corporate takeover of our public commons, the assault on Indigenous rights, and the need to organize around justice, affordability, and the climate crisis. The event featured speakers including Darlene Gilbert (Mi’kmaw elder), Dr. El Jones (independent media), Suzanne MacNeil (Justice for Workers Nova Scotia), Badia Nehme (Ecology Action Centre), Jacob Wilson (housing advocate), Dr. Neil Bala (Labour for Palestine), and Justin Cantafio (Farmers’ Markets of Nova Scotia).

Thank you!

Organizations such as People Not Plunder, NSGEU, and CUPW also ran “action stations,” which gave participants the opportunity to take immediate action on local and national issues. Also thanks to Labour for Palestine; Farmers’ Markets of Nova Scotia; Nova Scotia Justice for Workers, and more.

This event was co-sponsored by the Canadian Labour Congress, Nova Scotia Federation of Labour, Halifax Dartmouth District Labour Council, Ecology Action Centre, HRM Chapter of the Council of Canadians, and others.
