Gaza Ceasefire Phone Zap, Nova Scotia

With Israel’s genocide of the Palestinian people in its 185th day (on April 8, 2024), it’s imperative that we utilize our collective power to call for a permanent ceasefire and uphold international law.

Please use the tool below to call Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, Minister of Foreign Affairs Melanie Joly, and key representatives to commit to these urgent needs.

TALKING POINTS / SAMPLE CALL SCRIPT

Hello, my name is _______and I live in ________. My postal code is ________. (Feel free to add a short sentence about yourself: “As a mother, a student, etc, I grew up in, I have a particular commitment or…..” but remember to keep it very short!)

Israel’s genocide of the Palestinian people is in its 185th day. I am urging you to use your position of power to call for a permanent ceasefire in Gaza. As members of the public we continue to cry out for our leaders to intervene based on the daily evidence of startling violations of international law. We are outraged by the most recent killings of international aid workers on April 1st, which included a young Canadian victim. Canada has a moral and legal obligation to ensure the ICJ ruling is enforced, and to adjust our own responses and involvement in order to prevent further genocide.

I am calling you today with five demands:

  • That you call on Israel to stop impeding aid and stop killing international aid workers.
  • To condemn the use of starvation as an illegal act of war.
  • For Canada to sanction Israel until it abides by international law.
  • Besides all future military exports, all existing permits for military exports to Israel need to be revoked.
  • Finally, for more effort to go into ensuring people can leave Gaza. This means: lifting restrictions and arbitrary caps on refugee policies for those trying to seek safety in Canada. Israel is denying people the ability to leave, even those who have been approved for Temporary Resident Visas by Canada, so there needs to be more pressure applied by our government.Thank you for your time and for responding to the call of gravely concerned Canadians. We urge you to act now.
