UPDATE: The October2011.org occupation

Months prior to Occupy Wall Street, plans were in the works for an October 2011 occupation of Freedom Plaza to mark the tenth anniversary of the invasion of Afghanistan and Iraq.

Freedom Plaza – at 13th and Pennsylvania NW – is about a 5-minute walk from the White House and you can see the Capitol building (where the US Congress sits) from it.

There are about 50 tents here. The person at the information tent says they do many joint actions with Occupy DC.

Their demands include, “End the wars, bring the troops home, cut military spending.”

Both occupations will be joining the #Surround the White House action in opposition to the Keystone XL pipeline tomorrow afternoon at 2 pm.
