ACTION ALERT: Stop Monsanto’s GM “SmartStax” corn

As trade campaigner Stuart Trew noted yesterday, the Canadian Biotechnology Action Network is asking that you call on the Minister of Health to stop Monsanto’s genetically modified “SmartStax” corn.

They write, “Health Canada did not assess the safety of Monsanto’s new eight-trait genetically modified ‘SmartStax’ corn. Health Canada did not even bother to rubber-stamp ‘SmartStax’ – it was approved for release by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency, without Health Canada.”

TAKE ACTION!
“Tell the Minister of Health that this is unacceptable.”

Hon. Leona Aglukkaq, Minister of Health

“You can also call your Member of Parliament.”

“(Today) is World Food Day and it is the first ‘International Day Against Multinational Corporations’ called for by La Via Campesina, the global movement of small scale farmers – this year’s focus is Monsanto and GM crops!”
