ACTION: Rally with the Hupacasath against the Canada-China FIPA on June 5

From June 5 to 7, the Hupacasath First Nation will be in Federal Court in Vancouver to challenge the Harper government’s corporate rights deal with China – the Foreign Investment Protection and Promotion Agreement (FIPA). The landmark court case is supported by the Serpent River First Nations, the Union of British Columbia Indian Chiefs, and the Chiefs of Ontario.

The Council of Canadians calls on all trade justice activists to stand with the Hupacasath on June 5 for a cross-country day of action against the FIPA. We are asking that you rally outside your MP’s office to send a message of solidarity with the Hupacasath, who are standing up to Harper’s corporate rights deal with China.

To hear directly from Brenda Sayers of the Hupacasath First Nation about this day of action, please see Council of Canadians activist Paul Manly’s video above or go here. Please also be sure to share this video as widely as possible.

If you are planning a rally in your community, let us know.
