Delta/Richmond chapter unfurls large ‘Climate Action Now’ banner

The Vancouver Environmental News Examiner reports that, “the Council of Canadians (Delta/Richmond chapter) and the GatewaySucks.org organizations unfurled a large banner on Sunday April 25, which reads “CLIMATE ACTION NOW” on land slated for freeway construction.”

“’Historic homes are being demolished, and ancient indigenous sites are under threat from the South Fraser Perimeter Road (SFPR) project here on the Fraser River bank,’ according to a media statement from the Council of Canadians and the GatewaySucks organizations.”

They add that the highway would “greatly increase greenhouse gas emissions in BC.”

“The action on April 25 was part of a week of events dubbed ‘Earth Action Week’ by GatewaySucks.org and the Council of Canadians (Delta/Richmond chapter).”
