The Council of Canadians continues to support the Pictou Landing First Nation blockade of the Northern Pulp mill in an effort to stop the mill from polluting Boat Harbour.
Halifax-based Atlantic regional organizer Angela Giles commented yesterday, “The ongoing pollution and contamination of a once pristine coastal estuary and beach is a disgrace. It is absolutely the responsibility of the province of Nova Scotia to clean up this site once and for all.”
Both Giles and organizing assistant Tori Ball were at a solidarity rally in Halifax for the blockade today.
It is also heartening to see the Truro Daily News report on the blockade that says, “Cars honked as they passed by more than a dozen protesters on Pictou Landing Road …People passing by dropped off coffee and breakfast after many of the protesters had been there since the early hours of the morning.”
