Danny Beaton, of the Turtle Clan, Mohawk Nation, writes in a letter to the editor in today’s Globe and Mail that, “We have been camped across from Dump Site 41 in Tiny Township for more than two months in a peaceful protest to educate the world about what is happening to the site of ‘the best water on Earth’.”
“I’m writing this letter as I sit in a farmer’s clover field across from the proposed dump site. …Toxins, waste and contamination will be trucked here and placed above the sacred spring-feeding aquifer and underground rivers that nourished our native ancestors. The healing breeze that we breathe now, where birds and flowers are plentiful, will be filled with stench.”
“Ontarians need to come together now to solve the problems created when profit is seen as more important than a life-giving force – water, our Mother’s Sacred Blood.”
