NEWS: Council of Canadians holds regional meeting in Red Deer

The Red Deer Advocate reports (on page 2) that, “The annual (regional) meeting brings together about 20 activists from grassroots communities across the Prairies to discuss issues, community campaigns and methods to work more effectively.”

Scott Harris, Prairies regional organizer for the Council of Canadians, says, “Right now we have a federal election going on and a lot of our chapters are engaged in talking about the issues and trying to put issues like water and trade forth. These are people that recognize political engagement doesn’t end on May 3. It is something that has to happen all the time to hold governments and to hold corporations accountable on a local level.”
