The Peterborough Examiner reports, “Seven walkers, accompanied by two drivers, are making the hike from Toronto to Ottawa to raise awareness for Idle No More movement. …The group had travelled to southern Ontario from the First Nations community Kitchenuhmaykoosib Inninuwug, or Big Trout Lake, for the march. They walked from Port Perry to Cavan via Highway 7A on Thursday, spent the night in Peterborough, then set off for Madoc from Cavan Friday morning. …Their journey to Ottawa began Tuesday. Both women were hopeful they’d be able to make it to Ottawa by early next week. …The Idle No More movement is a nationwide protest taking aim at Bill C-45, which allows changes to the way federal reserve lands are managed. The Bill would allow construction of bridges, damns and other projects on reserves without federal approval.”
