The Peterborough Examiner reports that, “A group of local activists is hoping to raise the temperature on climate change discussion with a community forum on Sunday.”
“The local chapters of Ontario Public Interest Research Group and Council of Canadians are holding a meeting, the People’s Assembly on Climate Justice, in the lower level of St. John’s Church on Brock St. from 1-5 p.m. on Sunday.”
“A people’s summit is a forum of discussion without experts, the two organizations state in a release. It’s a more inclusive way to discuss climate change, said Alisha Embury, a volunteer coordinator with Ontario Public Interest Research Group.”
“People’s Summits are being held across Canada in December to coincide with the next major United Nations climate change conference that will be held in Cancun, Mexico in December, the organizations state.”
Council of Canadians chapters are involved in organizing more than a dozen people’s assemblies for climate justice that will be held across Canada over the next ten days.
