NEWS: Peterborough group continues to fight casino

MyKawartha.com reports that Peterborough city council voted 10-1 on March 18 in favour of having a casino in the city.

But “A group of local people against bringing a casino to Peterborough say they aren’t giving up. The No Peterborough in the City grassroots movement, which was recently organized as a united front against bringing a gambling facility to Peterborough, says they plan to rally against council’s move to remain willing hosts for a casino.”

Council of Canadians activist and casino opponent Roy Brady commented prior to the council vote, “Our message to city council is listen to the people, don’t make decisions on your own and don’t let OLG (the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation) push you around.”
