The Peterborough Examiner reports that, “Council of Canadians members Roy Brady and Kathryn Langley were (at the farmers’ market on Saturday) encouraging people to write their messages (about the prorogation of Parliament) to Harper on a piece of paper, which were posted on a board behind the table.”
“‘We’re trying to get the issue out to the public,’ said Brady, who was wearing a placard across his chest and sporting a mask of the prime minister. ‘Suspending parliament is so anti-democratic. So we are here defending democracy today.'”
“As of Saturday, the Canadians Against Proroguing Parliament group had 196,246 members. ‘We support the Facebook group and encourage everyone to join,’ Brady said.”
“The grassroots movement against the prime minister’s decision is growing in communities across the country. Rallies are scheduled for Jan. 23 from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m. In Peterborough, participants of the Canadians for Democracy Not Prorogation rally will march down George St. to the Peterborough Public Library, Langley said.”
