UPDATE: Canada’s health ministers meeting in Halifax, Sept. 27-28

Canada’s health ministers are meeting this coming September 27-28 in Halifax, Nova Scotia to continue their discussions on the 2014 Health Accord. Halifax-based Council of Canadians health care campaigner Adrienne Silnicki is leading our intervention around this key meeting. She has highlighted that while Harper promises to maintain health care increases of 6 per cent for the next five years to the provinces (until after the October 2015 federal election), his stated intention is then to drop those increases and tie them to GDP, which according to the parliamentary budget officer, would cost the provinces approximately $31 billion over the period of a new 10-year accord. Watch for updates from Adrienne about the meeting in Halifax in the coming days.
