UPDATE: Council-CUPE tour against CETA in Ottawa tonight

This evening, Council of Canadians chairperson Maude Barlow, CUPE president Paul Moist, and Frédéric Viale of ATTAC-France spoke about the threat of a Canada-European Union free trade deal to 125 people at St. Paul’s University in Ottawa.

Present at the forum were NDP MPs Paul Dewar, Eve Peclet, Alex Atamanenko, and Robert Chisholm (the Official Opposition’s trade critic).

The forum was moderated by Council water campaigner Meera Karunananthan.

The speaking tour against CETA has now been to 14 cities – Calgary (April 29), Montreal (May 24), Toronto (May 26), Saskatoon (May 31), Winnipeg (June 27), Halifax (June 28), St. John’s (June 29), Moncton (September 10), Hamilton (September 27), Windsor (September 28), Abbotsford (October 11), Vancouver (October 12), Victoria (October 13), and Ottawa (October 19).

To date, the tour has reached an audience totalling more than 2,975 people in 9 provinces, with multiple media articles reaching an even larger audience.

The next tour stop has just been confirmed for Charlottetown on December 8.
