The time has come for me to depart from Copenhagen. Maude and Anil are leaving in about an hour, and Andrea is leaving tomorrow morning.
And so we say farewell to this beautiful city that has hosted the world’s best almost-last chance to save itself.
This morning, we are outraged at the failure of most governments to truly rise to the challenge before them. That is the challenge to act decisively in the interests of climate justice.
But to counter this failure, we are now connected to and working with a global movement for climate justice that has momentum and that will not give up.
And at home we are committed to doing what is necessary to pressure the Harper government to abandon its shameful climate positions.
Despite the despair of the situation, this moment has felt like the true anniversary of Seattle. Let us continue to always move forward.
