Mary Galvin, Madhuresh Kumar
The Council of Canadians/ Blue Planet Project is pleased to welcome Mary Galvin and Madhuresh Kumar as Blue Planet Project organizers.
Durban-based Mary Galvin does advocacy and action research on water issues with the non-profit organization Umphilo waManzi in South Africa, and New Delhi-based Madhuresh Kumar does campaigns and policy advocacy work with the National Alliance of People’s Movements in India.
Their work through to June 2012, and hopefully beyond, will include working on the right to water (monitoring key right to water issues in their countries, blogging, working on right to water reports to be launched in the spring), participating in weekly water justice movement conference calls, and (hopefully) attending our planned ‘Activist Summit to Implement the Human Right to Water and Sanitation’ and the Forum Alternatif Mondial de l’Eau (alternative water forum) at the time of the World Water Forum in Marseilles, France, and more.
They join our water campaign team of Ottawa-based Council of Canadians water campaigners Meera Karunananthan and Emma Lui, Blue Planet Project organizer Anil Naidoo, and Mexico City-based Blue Planet Project organizer Claudia Campero Arena.
Welcome Madhuresh and Mary!
