UPDATE: South Fraser Protection Camp continues

Delta resident Wilma Haig writes in a letter to the Delta Optimist, “Mayor Lois Jackson says the protesters on River Road are ‘too late’ and should have taken up the case years ago. The Federal Court of Canada doesn’t think so; it decided to hear the case spearheaded by the Burns Bog Conservation Society in spite of the government’s motion for dismissal.”

Haig adds, “The efforts of members of the local chapter of Council of Canadians and Stop the Pave, who have worked tirelessly for months to plan this action, deserve the support of all who are being affected by this ridiculous project.”

Today – Saturday April 30, starting at about 9 am PT – a work party is taking place at the South Fraser Protection Camp to build a permanent structure in opposition to – and literally in the path of – the South Fraser Perimeter Road highway project.

Those in the area are encouraged to come out and support the camp and this campaign.
