What is It is a multi-media tool for climate justice organized by the Council of Canadians. It is intended to build awareness and inspire actions for climate justice in Canada and around the world.

Five things you should know about

1-The project features videos from a range of speakers including academics, workers and activists who talk about why we need system change and give examples of new ways forward. There are now 25 videos posted on this website, by individuals including Maude Barlow, Bill McKibben, Naomi Klein and Chief Jackie Thomas.

2-It is our hope that the speakers’ messages will be shared broadly. We encourage you to use the videos in whatever setting suits you, your organization, union or group.

3-We are asking our chapters, members and others across Canada and beyond to organize community-based teach-ins using these videos in the lead up to, during and well-beyond the UN climate talks in Durban, South Africa, this November 28-December 9.

4-We are encouraging organizations to endorse the project. So far, the project has been endorsed by the Canadian Union of Postal Workers, the Public Service Alliance of Canada, Greenpeace, the Indigenous Environmental Network, and Global Exchange.

5-We also encourage contributions to the project solidarity fund. That money goes toward video costs and translation, providing solidarity with the project and advancing climate justice. Thank you to CUPW, Alternatives, the Canadian Federation of Students and PSAC for their contributions.
