One year ago the Council of Canadians was participating, alongside 30,000 people, in the significant World Peoples Conference on the Rights of Mother Earth in Cochabamba Bolivia.
This year, we are a partner in the Cochabamba +1 conference in Montreal.
Tonight the Bolivian UN ambassador will kick off the conference with an address. Maude Barlow will be speaking following Pablo as part of a panel. The focus is on the emerging climate justice movement.
You can watch live streaming of the panel tonight on our website here. The event starts at 7:00 p.m. EDT.
A video stream with audio in French and English will be available for viewing. We recommend that you confirm browser compatibility in advance of the conference. Go to www.canadians.org/energy and if you see the message ‘Your browser does not support the video tag’, please try again on another browser or computer.
The live streaming will be available throughout the event. I will be part of a panel tomorrow on global solidarity and ecological debt at 2:30 p.m. EDT.
I plan on blogging from what promises to be an exciting conference, that for the first time brings people from Canadian labour, environment and social justice activists together to discuss how we can build the movement for climate justice in Canada.
