Webinar: Committing to Seniors Care: Addressing the Gaps

Seniors Care webinar hosted by the BC Health Coalition and the Council of Canadians on December 1, 2020. This was the second of two webinars focused on Committing to Seniors Care. This webinar aims to highlight and address the gaps in the full continuum of seniors care.

The elements of the seniors care system should fit together in a seamless continuum of support that maintains or improves the health of seniors. Home Support, Assisted Living and Long-Term Care are interdependent elements of seniors care. Not only do they impact where seniors live and the degree of health care provision they have access to, but they also share and draw from the same labour force. However, operators and governments have often played these sectors against each other. While systemically addressing issues in Long Term Care, we also need to address the gaps and growing issues in home care, home support and assisted living.

This webinar will be gratefully hosted on the traditional and unceded territories of the xʷməθkwəy̓əm (Musqueam), Skwxwú7mesh (Squamish), and Səl̓ílwətaɬ (Tsleil-Waututh) First Nations.
