Greta Thunberg, a 16 year-old student from Sweden, is trying to save our planet. As she says, our house is on fire. She and other youth like her are leading a wave of action around the world to help put out the flames of the climate crisis. The urgency is real and young people are leading the way to a safe climate future. They need your support.
Will you join them for the global climate strike?
Join an action for climate justice in Canada on September 27.
These youth are calling on everyone: young people, parents, workers, and all concerned citizens to join massive climate strikes and a week of actions which started on September 20. More than 4 million people around the world are taking part.
People all over the world are using their power to stop “business as usual” in the face of the climate emergency. You can join young people in the streets to demand an end to the age of fossil fuels and emergency action to avoid climate breakdown.
The science tells us we have 10 years to change course.
We’re already seeing the devastating impacts of climate change, including wildfires, floods, hurricanes and more. This summer was the hottest on record and Canada is warming faster than the rest of the planet.
The evidence is clear. We must leave fossil fuels in the ground if we want to keep the global temperature rise below 1.5 degrees, which was agreed to in the Paris climate accord. Politicians haven’t made the urgent changes that are needed – you can get them to act.
We need a visionary transformation of our economy – a Green New Deal that includes a just transition that leaves no one behind and upholds Indigenous rights – if we’re to have a livable future. But to make it happen, the planet needs you to take to the streets with millions of other people marching for climate justice. We need an intergenerational movement of movements.
