About the Civil Society Hub and the Council of Canadians
The Civil Society Hub convenes organizations, researchers, and activists to address the social, environmental, economic, democratic, and labour impacts of artificial intelligence. Emerging from the Civil Society Summit on the AI Industry, the Hub aims to strengthen connections across sectors and deepen shared analysis to address the crises created by the rapid expansion of the AI industry.
The Council of Canadians is a member-based organization that has been working to expand the space for “people, planet and democracy” and limit corporate power for over 40 years. Rooted in dozens of chapters across the country and the activism of our members, the Council’s current focus areas include protecting water, taking on the power of big tech, energy democracy, and stopping the push to privatize public services and assets.
